【摘要】:Severalmethodshavebeenemployedinthepastfordeterminingtheresistanceofactivatedcarbonstoparticlesizedegradationunderserviceconditions,includingtheball-panmethod,thestirringbarmethod,andthedustelutriationmethod.Noneofthesehasprovedcompletelysatisfactoryforallapplications,andallhavebeenquestionedbyASTMCommitteeD28onActivatedCarbonastestsforestablishingdegradationresistance.However,theball-panmethodhasbeenusedwidelyinthepastandhasabroadhistoryintheactivatedcarbonindustryformeasuringthepropertylooselydescribedasx201C;hardness.x201D;Inthiscontextthetestisusefulinestablishingameasurablecharacteristicofacarbon.Concedingthefactthatthetestdoesnotactuallymeasurein-serviceresistancetodegradation,itcanbeusedtoestablishthecomparabilityoflotsostensiblyofthesamegradeofcarbon.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaprocedurefordeterminingtheball-panhardnessnumberofgranularactivatedcarbons.Forthepurposeofthistest,granularactivatedcarbonsarethosehavingparticles90%ofwhicharelargerthan80mesh(180x03BC;m)asdeterminedbyTestMethodD2862.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
